J O U R N A L E N T R I E S JOURNAL THOUGHT: Describe your feelings about the College Now program. FRANCIS VARGAS My feelings about College Now are great! I love the program a lot because the teachers are great! They are fun, make things easy to understand, have a lot of brilliant ideas and they are cool too! CASSANDRA DeJESUS I don't have any feelings for the College Now program except pride. I am proud of myself for being in such a high-standard program. Everybody in my family is proud of me being in such an advanced program and at such a young age. The College Now program is filled with teachers that care. ELISSA REID Personally I feel the College Now program is great for the incoming 9th graders because it gives us a head start for college. It gives us an idea of what it's like and what it takes to get there. I feel excited and special because so many people put their time and effort to get it startd. Plus, the teachers are the best! ANTONIO McKAY I feel good about being in the College Now program because being in this program makes me feel that I am mad smart and have potential. This shows I was smart since junior high school. JOURNAL THOUGHT: When I walk into the lunch room, I feel like . . . REDI FILAJ When I walk into the lunchroom, I feel free. No work to do, no teachers--just free to have a good time and chill with your friends. SHARLENE JOHN When I walk into the lunchroom, I feel happy because I am going to eat. To some people 5th period is too early. For me it's too late. I also feel like a hunter hunting for a seat. There are a lot of people wanting a seat, so I have to be sure I am there early and that I get the seat before them. ANONYMOUS When I walk into the lunchroom, I feel scared--because everyone is bigger and older than me. I feel happy because I have a chance to get to know at least one new person. PAUL AZZU When I walk into the lunchroom, I feel like I've just entered into a market because it's noisy and it's got ketchup and mashed food all over and it's also crowded. ELISSA REID When I walk into the lunchroom I feel free at times because there are no teachers. Only school security officers that don't do anything. but at other times I have a headache because there are so many students around. At other times I feel it's a great opportunity to meet other people, to get to know their personality and to make new associates. If you're lucky, it can be a new friend. LESLIE ANN ORTIZ When I walk in the lunchroom I feel nervous and happy at the same time. I feel nervous because I don't know everybody. And I feel happy because there is a special somebody I'm glad to see. JOURNAL QUESTION: Imagine it is the year 2010. Where will you be, and what will you be doing? ELISSA REID In ten years from now I think I'll be in college getting my master's degree in psychology. Not a lazy college degree, but I also plan on getting a Ph. D in psychology as well. ELI BUJAJ I will be in the NFL or NBA playing basketball or football. With a high school diploma, too, and by then I would have finished college. SALIH KUKIC In the year 2010 I will be an NBA basketball superstar having millions of fans and being an idol. And the first Albanian basketball player. JOURNAL QUESTION: If you could be anyone in the world you wanted, whom would you choose to be and why? CASSANDRA DeJESUS I would be nobody but myself, because I would want to live my life, not someone else's. I have my unique qualitites that no one else has. I did not live my full life, so I don't know what I would be missing. I love being me because of the great things in my life. These are the reasons why I would want to be myself. MICHAEL A. GEORGE I would be myself, because I have a very interesting life and I want to be able to improve in it. I don't want to be anyone else because that would mean that person would have accomplished their life, but what about mine. I don't want to copy anyone's life style. I want to be an individual.
